We are just back from a 3-night getaway to the Central Coast. We camped at Morro Bay State Park. The campground is ok. It is on the edge of town and attracts many people. It is in need of a little spruce up, but our site was awesome. We had a spot with neighbors onlyContinue reading “Morro Bay Camping Trip”

San Clemente Beach Camping
We spent a short, but a sweet two nights camping in San Clemente. It was chilly, windy and a bit rainy, but we kept moving, had good fires and a well-working camper heater. All was good! Camping for us frequently involves eating out. This night we chose the Fisherman’s Bar and Grill. We shared aContinue reading “San Clemente Beach Camping”
Eastern Sierra Camp Trip
Due to low temps we had to change our plans several times – each time for a lower elevation. We ended up in Bishop (down to about 4000 feet, from 10,000 feet) where it still got cold, but only about 30 degrees as compared with teens and 20s. And the wind! Thankfully it died downContinue reading “Eastern Sierra Camp Trip”
Crystal Cove Camping
Chris spent a week and I spent 3 days camping at Crystal Cove State Park last weekend. It was intended to be a Stark Family gathering, but our numbers were a little low due to…. covid. Still the beach, weather, food and company were good. Our site, with a million dollar ocean view. We tookContinue reading “Crystal Cove Camping”
Big Meadow Camping Trip
We just returned from camping. We were so fortunate to get a site at Big Meadow. There are only 11 sites and they cannot be reserved. Site 1 was available, and we moved right in. The camp is on the Rock Creek, south of Mammoth Mountain, about 15 minutes up the hill from Tom’s Place.Continue reading “Big Meadow Camping Trip”
Slow Return to More Normal
LA county has moved into the “Yellow Tier”. This means minimal risk of Covid infection and things are opening up. We still wear masks indoors and indoor capacity of all stores and restaurants is limited. I can swim at the Y but have to make a reservation. I can go to the library but cannotContinue reading “Slow Return to More Normal”
South Carlsbad Camping
We were gifted this two night reservation in South Carlsbad from the Smiths. These sites are hard to get, and the ocean front spaces, as we had, are especially coveted. The Smiths gave us this spot as they obtained a longer stay at a nearby beach, a few miles south. Cathy and Tom, camping atContinue reading “South Carlsbad Camping”
Desert Zen – Joshua Tree
Wide open spaces, colored filled skies, weird little trees, lots of cacti, surrounded by mountains, perfect temperatures, and not many people. The makings of a good getaway in this long year. We spent three nights at Black Rock Campground. Our favorite hike was Fortynine Palms Oasis, closely followed by Hidden Valley Nature Trail. Our favoriteContinue reading “Desert Zen – Joshua Tree”
